Like most Oregonians, I love my state in large part because of its remarkable environment. From snow-capped mountain peaks to rugged coastlines to vibrant cities, Oregon has it all. It doesn’t just happen by accident. It takes dedicated organizations advancing progressive environmental advocacy and policy.

It doesn’t just happen by accident. It takes dedicated organizations advancing progressive environmental advocacy and policy. That’s why I serve on Oregon Environmental Council‘s (OEC’s) Emerging Leaders Board. This diverse group of young leaders from the non-profit, private, and public sectors advances OEC’s mission with Oregon’s next generation of environmental advocates.

For three years, I’ve supported the group’s efforts by branding and promoting fundraising events, producing and editing videos, and writing copy for plans and initiatives.

Get Dirty for Clean Air has emerged as the ELB’s signature annual fundraising event. I’ve supported the event by promoting the event with local media, and by designing branding materials including splash pages and flyers.

In November 2016, the third iteration of Get Dirty for Clean Air raised more than $8,000 in support of OEC.

Perhaps the most fulfilling part of this work has been the ELB’s ability to evolve the conversation about how environmental issues are also social justice issues. In 2016, we adopted a theme of Climate Justice; a simple terming framing the greatest challenge of Oregon’s future; creating healthy, sustainable, and just communities.
